What is Affiliate Marketing?
December 17, 2006 – 11:50 pmIf you are fairly new to the web then I am sure that you’ve possibly heard the term “Affiliate Marketing”. What does this mean on the web? Well for one thing if you run a site that is content based you can incorporate ads into the articles or the site itself, Direct interested parties to the affiliate’s website to buy the product and you in turn recieve a percentage of the sale. If your audience is large enough you can begin to create another stream of income this way from your website.
In the past I’ve thought about keeping CommerceCubes as an ad free resource but as my site is starting to see more traffic and I am becoming more focused in my approach towards my goals with CommerceCubes I am also becoming interested in turning this into a long term stream of revenue (at least enough to pay the server bill at the end of the month
).
Anyways, getting back to what Affiliate marketing actually is here is the standard definition…
A system of advertising in which site A agrees to feature buttons from site B, and site A gets a percentage of any sales generated for site B. It can also be applied to situations in which an advertiser may be looking for marketing information, rather than a cash sale. Popular among startups with very small marketing budgets.

Personally I don’t agree with the statement “Popular among startups with very small marketing budgets” because even established site owners use tactics such as these and it is something that a business of any size can make good use of.
Currently I’ve been looking at doing this with Jason Chance and his company’s, Secure Delivery, system because first off I believe in the service he is marketing. You may have read my initial article about his Secure Delivery services earlier last week where I got into discussing the basics of this service and yes there is another article coming shortly.
Call me crazy but I am not going to sell a service that I don’t believe in just to make a buck. Call it “picky” or “stubborn”. The truth is that there is an endless source of services and products that you can market on the internet so you might as well start and stick to the ones you believe in.
Look for CommerceCubes to change in the coming months as I integrate and learn more about marketing and selling through CommerceCubes. Naturally I will impart any wisdom that I gain and share the knowledge.
