Dell Delivers and Christmas Shopping Persists

December 11, 2006 – 5:41 pm

After a little waiting for the system disks from dell they have finally arrived so I am proceeding with my Ubuntu install. I picked up the disks this morning from Purolator (all of which were shipped for free… thanks to Dell Computers). There is one thing that I dislike that Dell does do when shipping a PC or Laptop.

Because of a special licensing agreement with Microsoft they really try to restrict how people get a hold of an operating system such as Windows XP. Is there anyone who likes the way Dell ships and bundles their computers? I am sure that Daduh Mainee who advised me to buy a MAC earlier on this year still stands behind that but i cannot make the switch to a MAC just yet. :D

After a day of wandering through the local malls of Burlington Ontario to finish my Christmas Shopping I am pretty beat. Naturally Christmas Shopping has left me feeling exhausted a bit between figuring out what to buy everyone and getting plenty of ideas for things i’d like (because guys only visit malls once a year to buy anything ;) ). Maybe next year i’ll try to buy everything online a month before Christmas. Getting back to Ubuntu, Dell and all that good stuff my original plan was to install Ubuntu as soon as I got those disks from Dell but I may save that for tomorrow.

I am also currently testing out Jason Chance’s (of “jcCommerce Blog” and “Portal Labs” fame) “Secure Delivery” Solution in the next few days too… stay tuned for a posting about this. Jason was nice enough to send me a code to get me in to test it. Who knows I may use this solution in the next few years as a part of my business.  It’s definitely a smart idea that Jason has and i think that a good number of businesses could make excellent use of a service like Secure Delivery.  That is what i am currently up to these days so again stay tuned for more.
