Do you have a Life Plan?
November 13, 2006 – 9:35 pmUntil recently this is something that I have been overlooking actually doing. I’ve heard about having a “life plan” but I honestly did not know how to go about even starting one until I ran across an article at StartupNation.com the other day.
Why is having a plan in life so important? I guess that it is not really important but if you are feeling a bit lost, or you just want to get a clearer idea of what you want out of life this is something that you should have a serious look at. I can personally attest to a bit of confusion lately as to where my life is heading at the age of 26 (now almost 27). Like most people in their mid-twenties there some of us are starting families, getting used to the working world, or starting businesses and if you’re like me it can seem a little overwhelming at times.
Having a plan that can change with time is a great idea but where and how does that happen? If you are going to do well in life and business then you’ve got to know your strengths and use them to your advantage.
So what does a life plan look like? Well have a look below…
My Current Status:
score: 70% (70 out of 100)
I personally think that ranking your life is very subjective. Some days you are a 70 and others you may well be a 90.
My Realities:
• No children to support
• Single
• Have a little extra money per month I could use to grow something
• Want to go back to school part-time and learn about business
No kids, no mortgage and a bit of money to grow something every month. Naturally this will change again depending on your current station in life.
Things that make me happy:
• Taking good care of myself
• spending time with friends and making new ones
• trying new things
• continuing to learn
• continuing to grow
Things that make me unhappy:
• Not having a direction in life
• Not running my business
• Not being allowed to be creative
• Being bored and feeling “stuck”
My Ideal Life:
• Running a successful business that generates $10,000 a month profit
• Networking with other professionals such as myself
• Continuing to learn (i.e. Doing a Business Degree/Diploma Part-time)
• Investing in Real Estate, learning about Real Estate
• Growing a family
This borrows from Intention Manifestation principles. Anything is possible over time. If you dream then why not dream big and in figuring out what really matters to you in life is a good thing because it puts your mind at ease to focus on living, creating, growing and putting down the investment for tomorrow.
What are your skills? What do you do well?
• Global Thinker
• System Analysis and Design
• Communicate
What do you have experience doing?
• Running online businesses
My Ideal Work Style
• Fulltime to start but as business picks up and things become more part-time and spend more time managing investments, other businesses, etc.
• I would like to work from home to start possibly getting an office later on to move work away from home
• I would like to get a good amount of sleep per night
• I’d like a more laid back approach to working; focused but laid back
No plan is ever set in stone but having an idea of yourself, your skills, talents and interests gives you a better understanding of how to move forward with more confidence and strength of conviction.
If you’ve ever thought of creating a plan for your life i can honestly say that this is the best example and step-by-step guide i’ve found, either online or offline.
