The Concept of Crowdsourcing Software
October 30, 2006 – 5:00 pm
Ever since I first heard about what the guys and girls over at Cambrian House were up to I have to admit, as a guy who is always inspired by new things, new ways of doing business and new anything (that is smart and intelligently built) I knew they’d do great things. Now I am not biased in any way, even though the company is based out of Calgary, Alberta or “Canada” for those of you who are unsure where exactly Calgary is (please see map)…
I think when I go to check out the west coast of Canada I’ll have to drop by their offices (if I can get past the bouncers that is ;))
Their idea…
Cambrian House Software is built on the idea of “crowdsourcing”. Now you may ask, “what is crowdsourcing?” and to that question I offer this answer…
crowdsourcing represents the act of a company or institution taking a function once performed by employees and outsourcing it to an undefined (and generally large) network of people in the form of an open call.

Cambrian House recently released Prezzle.com as a way to sell gift cards. It is definitely a twist on the ordinary but interesting never the less. These guys and girls may become my Business Geeks of the month for November 2006 just yet. Feel free to nominate your favorite business geeks today by posting in the comments section of this article.
